On 16 January 2019, Colonel Shahid Uddin Khan (dismissed from Bangladesh Army on corruption cases), gave an interview to ION TV, Britain, where he spoke very high about himself and his past military career. He falsely claimed himself to be a very bright officer, who was very much loved by all his juniors in the service. He also claimed that in his whole service career he never got any red ink entry or even a warning.

Under the circumstances, through a neutral study about his career, a number of grave wrong doings/practices were found on his behalf. These will be serially published here for the information of the readers.

First of all, let us highlight about the accusations, which were brought against the officer. A field level search on him reveal that he was tried under court martial from 28 November 2004 to 10 February 2005 on various charges at the then Headquarters BDR, Pilkhana. The court constituted total 28 charges against him. It clearly reveals that claiming by him as honest and bright officer is only a charlatan act by him. Few details found in investigation against him are appended below:

While serving as Commanding Officer 17 East Bengal (19 July 2001 to 24 January 2002 in Chittagong Cantonment, he was deployed under 69 Infantry Brigade in aid of civil power during 8th National Parliamentary Election in areas of Chittagong constituencies 13 and 14 respectively. During this time, he on instruction by BNP leader Colonel Oli Ahmed (Retired), planned to defeat Awamileage (AL) candidate at any cost in consultation with BNP central leader Salahuddin Ahmed (presently under detention for illegally infiltrating Shilong, India). In this regard, he aloso conducted numerous operations against AL leaders and harassed them with false weapon cases showing them shown arrest. The then Brigade Commander instructed him not to do such irregularities and also intimated General officer Commanding of 24 Infantry Division regarding his misdeeds. His such misdeeds were also reported to further higher up, which created embarrassing situations for the military. Defying military rules, he also gave interviews to a number of Medias.

He then on 15 March 2002, went for UN Mission in Kongo, Africa, came back only after 02 months and withdrew his name from UN Mission showing falsely that he was sick. He was then posted as Commanding officer 30 Rifle Battalion and then to 6 Rifle battalion Chapai Nawabgonj. While serving in 6 Rifle Battalion, on 3-6 June 2004, he complained through anonymous letters against DG BDR, MSPM and Director Training BDR to Home Minister giving copies to PM Secretariat, and thereby trying by all means to defame and malign Bangladesh Army.

Besides, the investigation also revealed that he bribed Taka 4000.00 to Naik Md. Abul Kalam Azad of 6 Rifle Battalion for preparing drafts for his anonymous letters and bribed Taka 6000.00 to lance Naik Abul Hosen for distributing the said anonymous letters to concerned places. He also coerced them with dismissal and jail if they disclosed the occurrence. He then destroyed his computer hard disc to destroy any evidence. However, all these facts were disclosed and confirmed by BDR personnel during his court martial. A number of other information was also revealed during this court-martial, which spoke about his indulgence to unethical practices. We shall intimate you more on his wrong-doings in the next part of this report.
